Arkad Privacy Policy
Arkad is a personal expense-tracking app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, developed by Fran Julián (Falkir). If you have a question about this policy or about your data, write to contact@falkir.es.
Arkad has no server
Arkad has no server of its own, no backend and no API. The app does not send any information to any service of ours or of any third party, because no such service exists. The only network addresses Arkad knows about belong to Apple (for purchases and for syncing with iCloud) and to this very page, which does not receive or process any data: it is simply where this text is published.
Where your data lives
Your transactions, accounts, categories, fixed bills, loans and goals are stored in a file on your device. If you’re signed in to iCloud, that same file syncs through your private CloudKit database: the iCloud copy tied to your Apple account, which only you can access. Arkad never shares it with other users, and no one other than you, from your own devices, can read it. If you don’t have an iCloud account, Arkad keeps working with the local file, without syncing, and never deletes your data for that reason.
The camera
Arkad asks for camera permission to read the amount, merchant and date of a receipt when you photograph a ticket while creating an entry. That reading happens on the device itself, using Vision, Apple’s text recognition: the photo is never uploaded anywhere, and it is not kept in the app once that data has been extracted.
Artificial intelligence
Automatic categorisation and the advisor use models that run on the device itself: Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models) and Apple’s natural-language engine, depending on availability on your device and in your language. None of these features send your transactions, your categories or the text of your queries to an external server.
Purchases
Arkad’s annual subscription is handled through StoreKit, Apple’s purchasing system. Arkad only asks StoreKit for the status of your subscription; it never sees or stores your card number or any other payment data. Apple handles that information directly.
No analytics, no advertising
Arkad includes no analytics, measurement or advertising SDK. There is no tracking of your activity, no advertising identifiers and no behavioural profiles. No one receives statistics about how you use Arkad.
Widgets and shortcuts
Arkad’s widget and shortcuts read the same data file as the app, through an App Group shared on your own device, not over the internet. The widget only reads, never writes, and never syncs with iCloud on its own. None of this leaves your device.
Your rights: exporting and deleting
Your data is yours. From Settings → Data you can:
- Export transactions (CSV): a copy of your transactions that opens in any spreadsheet.
- Export everything (JSON): a complete, readable copy of all your data, which also serves to restore it.
- Delete everything: permanently removes all of your Arkad data from your device and, if you sync, from your private iCloud copy as well. For safety, this button asks you to type the word “DELETE” before confirming, because it cannot be undone.
You don’t need to ask anyone to exercise these rights: the buttons are in the app itself, always available.
Children
Arkad is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children under that age. Because it has no server and collects no personal data outside your own device, there is no centralised database from which to purge information. If a parent or guardian has any concern about this, they can write to us.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, this same page will be updated with a new date at the top. If the change is significant — for example, if Arkad were ever to start using a server or sharing data with third parties, which it does not do today — you will also be notified inside the app itself.
